# Playout and recording As soon the broadcast timeslot of a given episode starts, the assigned media sources are played out. Any broadcasts will be recorded to files. These will be made available in the Audio Store Directory. Radio administrators can provide the episode recording directory as a network share to hosts, who can then manually grab the recordings there. Features like [CBA Upload](cba-upload) fetch these recordings and make them available as a podcast. At a later stage, we plan to make these recordings available directly via the Dashboard interface for download. ## Playout behaviour during intervention Sometimes a program manager may need to intervene in a running broadcast. In this situation playout behaves differently depending on the type of the intervention. ### Playing episode is missing media sources 1. User adds media sources during broadcast. 2. Playout starts the first available media source from the start almost immediately. ### Playing episode is playing unwanted media sources 1. User removes media sources during broadcast. 2. User adds new media sources during broadcast. 3. Playout quickly stops the previous media source and starts the the new media sources. ### Playing episode media is correct but missing sources to fill the timeslot 1. User adds media sources during broadcast after the currently playing media source. 2. Playout starts the new media sources flawlessly after the currently playing media source has finished. ### Playing episode timeslot has wrong duration 1. Episode is correctly playing some media sources with dynamic length (e.g. web stream). 2. During playout the broadcast timeslot is extended. 3. Playout automatically adapts to that change and keeps playing until the new end of the timeslot is reached.
